Alison Ann Sweeney (born September 19, 1976)[2] is an American actress, reality show host, director and author. Sweeney is best known for her portrayal of Samantha 'Sami' Brady on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives,[3] a role she has played under contract with the show since January 6, 1993.[4] In this role, she has earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination, four Soap Opera Digest Awards and a Fan Voted Daytime Emmy Award.[5] In 2007, she became the host of The Biggest Loser, and left the series at the end of the sixteenth season in 2015.
Personal life[edit]
Sweeney is of Irish descent. Sweeney has two brothers.[6][7] She studied Economics at UCLA but left due to her commitment to Days of Our Lives.[8][9] On July 8, 2000, Sweeney married David Sanov, after dating for nearly three years.[10] The couple has two children: a son born on February 25, 2005, and a daughter born on January 12, 2009.[11] The family currently lives in Los Angeles.[12][13]
Career[edit]
Sweeney in 2011
Her television debut was at age five in a Kodak advertisement.[12] A few years later, she was in the episode 'I Can't Help Saying Goodbye' of the horror series Tales from the Darkside, playing a young girl who could sense when others were going to die shortly before their deaths. In 1988, she appeared on the short-lived ABC sitcom Family Man,[14] and the following year, was cast as Christy McCray on Brand New Life, a miniseries from future X-Files creator Chris Carter that aired within NBC's Magical World of Disney in October 1989. The miniseries, which co-starred Barbara Eden as Sweeney's mother and Don Murray as her new stepfather, was considered for pick-up as a stand-alone series beyond its Disney tryout, but the regular series never materialized.
On January 6, 1993, then 16-year-old Sweeney first appeared in the role of Samantha 'Sami' Brady in the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives—a show of which she was a fan.[15]
In the 1990s, Sweeney struggled with her weight. She eventually was a US dress size 12 (UK dress size 16), not obese by medical standards, but still larger than her television peers. She documented all the tabloid talk and personal anguish in her 2004 memoir, All The Days of My Life (So Far).[16]
In 2002, she appeared on a celebrity episode of the NBC reality game show Fear Factor.[12] She has appeared in other NBC shows such as Friends, where she played an actress on Days of Our Lives, and Las Vegas.[13] In 2007, she joined the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon as a co-host for the live television broadcast.[17] She returned to her co-hosting duties for the 2008, 2009, and 2010 telethons.[18][19]

In 2007, Sweeney took over hosting duties on The Biggest Loser, replacing Caroline Rhea since the fourth season. She was surprised but happy to be offered the role, where she is able to cheer on contestants and share their victories.[15]
Sweeney has written three books: 'The Star Attraction' (released in May 2013),[20] 'Scared Scriptless: A Novel' (released in June 2014)[21] and 'Opportunity Knocks' (released in April 2016).[22]
In July 2013, Sweeney appeared in Second Chances, a Hallmark Original Movie, alongside Days co-star Greg Vaughan. The movie was filmed before Sweeney and Vaughn became siblings on Days of Our Lives.[23]
On January 20, 2014, Sweeney announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that after 21 years of being on the air on Days of Our Lives, she will be leaving the show, to focus on spending more time with her family, as well as more time to work on her other show, The Biggest Loser. She stated in the interview that she would be on the show throughout 2014, and that she would like her character on the show to have a happy ending with a Breaking Bad twist.[24]
On July 9, 2014, it was announced that Sweeney would be joining General Hospital behind the scenes as a director, starting later that month[25] On April 26, 2015, Sweeney announced that she will be returning to Days of Our Lives to be part of the show's 50th anniversary celebrations.[26]
From 2015 to 2017, Sweeney has appeared in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Murder, She Baked, based on Joanne Fluke's books.
Cisco wireless ae2500 driver. On August 25, 2015, it was announced that Sweeney would not be returning to The Biggest Loser.[27]
Beginning on October 13, 2017, Sweeney will reprise her long-term role as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives, over 24 years after her first appearance as a teenaged Sami Brady.
She was last seen playing podcast host Alex McPherson in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Chronicle Mysteries in 2019.

BEVERLY HILLS – Alison Sweeney found her Hollywood calling at a very young age.
The actress made her acting debut at the age of 4 when she landed a role in a Kodak commercial. From there she never looked back, appearing in over 60 commercials and eventually going on to land the role of Sami on the longtime running soap opera 'Days of Our Lives.'
Dragon naturally speaking mac. While she loved the ability to live out her passion at a young age, Sweeney admits that growing up on television wasn’t always the easiest.
At the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Summer 2019 TCA press tour event, she told Fox News that being a childhood actor taught her “that there's always someone out there who is prettier and skinnier and fancier.”

She said she was able to combat that by gradually learning to believe in herself and what she had to offer, and by figuring out how to “find that confidence” within herself. And as other childhood stars were succumbing to the temptations of the limelight, Sweeney said her family was really instrumental in helping her to keep her head on straight.
“I was really lucky. I’m from LA so it wasn’t a big fish out of water story, and my parents are super grounded and normal and real and tough and strict,” she said.
Therefore engaging in behaviors that would have landed her in the tabloids was not, per Sweeney, an option for her.
'I was really lucky. I’m from LA so it wasn’t a big fish out of water story, and my parents are super grounded and normal and real and tough and strict.'
“I was never left out on my own to figure that out. I was always really guided by my brothers and my parents, who were all very loving,” she recalled.
The star said her family is still very much involved in her life today and she credits them for helping her have a happy childhood-actor-to-adulthood transition, unlike some of the young stars growing up alongside her.
“I think that when you see those kinds of stories, often it starts at home. I think that’s true for many problems,” she explained.
Sweeney revealed that she’s doing her best to raise her own children to grow up well balanced in Hollywood.
“They’re so young but yes, it happens. ‘Everyone has a cell phone mommy; why don’t I have one?’ It’s always something,” she said. The trick, she noted, is to prepare your children for the world that’s out there instead of trying to completely protect them from it.
“I do not want to shelter my kids from choices and struggles and life but to say, ‘No. That’s not your life. People do it but we don't do that in our family. So that's the big lesson that I think is really important to share with them,” she said.

If Sweeney could go back in time and give her teenage actress self some advice, it would be to be a little bit more gentle.

“To give myself a break. Trust myself more. If I talk fitness, it's like a marathon, not a sprint. And sometimes I was hard on myself. I felt beaten down a little instead of looking at what was to come,” she explained.
Acting at a young age did inevitably come with making some personal sacrifices, but Sweeney wouldn’t go back in time and change any of the decisions made along the way.
“I feel like no matter what you choose, there's always things you're going to miss out on. There’s always trade outs. And I think the biggest thing is to not regret those things and to know that you took the best road that you could and be happy with the choices you made,” she said.
She added that had she done things differently, like gone to her high school prom, she has no idea what her life would look like today.

“Any of those big things, I wouldn't be where I am today with my husband and my kids,” she said, before joking that it’s like one of the popular Hallmark Channel plotlines where a character goes back to relive her life and her choices take her on wildly different paths.
“I've seen those movies. You change one thing and the rest all goes to s--t,” she said with a laugh.
